I’m a good presenter, but I go fast out of being anxious. That and being overly enthusiastic because I’m so scared people are going to checkout, get bored.
Going too fast is a common issue that many people struggle with. Try recording yourself on your phone a few times before you go into the presentation. That way you can practice speaking more slowly and going at the pace you would like. Once you've identified the correct pace, it will be easier to stick to it in the live presentation.
If you are worried that people will get bored, do more to include them. Ask questions, get them to share their experiences and think up some activities.
One thing I've learned about presentations is that, to really be effective, you must have a visual component. It may be minimal, but handouts, slides, blackboard, etc., are very helpful, if not essential, to assist your audience's retention of the material.
Forwarding to ALL my colleagues. 🫠
Thanks :-) Glad you found it helpful.
What do you find most challenging about delivering presentations?
Pacing myself.

Thank you for these great pointers, Wendy!
I've been practicing asking questions when presenting, so that people are more engaged. It helps!
